Drive – Daihatsu Copen Used Car Review

David Morley Make DAIHATSU Model COPEN Insurance $812 (RACV, 40-year-old, rating-one driver, medium-risk suburb, $500 excess). Transmission/Driven Wheels Five-speed manual. Nice curves, but little else A quick glance at the Daihatsu Copen has the potential to convince that you’re looking at an Audi TT rival for a fraction of the money. The Copen was a bit of a wildcard for Australia when it was introduced in 2003, just a couple of years before parent company Toyota culled Daihatsu ...

Daihatsu Charade – Review – Super Charade

Daihatsu Charade Advantages: Cheap to buy, cheap to run. Good standard spec. Fun to drive. Extremely reliable. Disadvantages: Early models had some driveshaft problems. Fair bit of body roll during cornering. I’ve had my Charade 1.0 EL for a while now, and have to say that it is a brilliant, underrated little car. In terms of practicality, the car seems tiny from the outside, especially when parked alongside other small cars. Inside, it is like a Tardis, with plenty of space for 4 adults. As equipment goes, it’s no high tech machine, but comes well specced, with twin airbags, front electric windows, electric mirrors, power steering, central locking and a CD player. The boot ...

Is Smaller Better? 18-inch magnesium alloys cover large disc brakes Mazda’s MZR hybrid engine makes 132kW What is it about small-but-quick cars? They’re exceedingly popular, both in convertible and hard-top varieties, and the market segment isn’t showing any signs of abating. Take a look at Mazda’s MX-5, or Renault’s Clio Sport for a good example – they sell by the ship-load because they’re affordable and they appeal to the eye. Their short wheelbases and rigid chassis also gift them with very nimble and indeed confidence-inspiring handling capabilities, while their small size makes navigation and parking a breeze, and compact engines help reduce ...

Jamaica Gleaner News – 2005 Daihatsu Boon: The economiser – Sunday | March 30, 2008

2005 Daihatsu Boon: The economiser published: Sunday | March 30, 2008 Mario James Photo The 2005 Dahiatsu Boon available at Auto Impressions for $869,000. Mario James, Gleaner Writer It is cute. Really it is. It kind of looks like Gizmo (the Mogwai from the movie, Gremlins ), if you visualise its wing mirrors as ears and add fur. It costs $869,000 and gets about 43 mpg. The Boon is made by Daihatsu, now a subdivision of Toyota, and always a builder of quirky, yet logical automobiles that had carved out their own niche in this increasingly competitive market, ergo the Cuore and the Terios. Oodles of interior space Our tester is a well-put-together machine. It has oodles of interior ...

Daihatsu Copen Road Test

Daihatsu Copen Road Test Someone commented that the Daihatsu Copen looked a little flimsy but it isn’t lacking when it comes to safety. 28 August 2008 MAC Of course the roof has to go somewhere and the diminutive Daihatsu Copen is not blessed with a big boot. When the roof is up the luggage capacity is 210-litres and when the roof is packed away this is reduced to just 14-litres, which can be found under the soft partition and in a shallow compartment near the boot lip. Inside, there is a narrow space behind the seats, which would accommodate a handbag or jacket and the small net pockets between the seats and on the door panels are suitable for documents only. All of this makes ...
