Autosport Show 2010 report by Russ Larcombe

Visiting the Autosport exhibitionВ В this week I was struck how much smaller it was this year obviously due to the economic downturn Never the less there was still plenty to see.

The new Lexis LFA for example for ВЈ350,000 .

I was most impressed by the Ginetta G40В which saw its debut at the show.

Designed primarily asВ a track day car it will be produced in a road going version as well. Notice those Griff shaped head lights.

Melly worked hard to secure a promise from Ginetta to bring their TVR T440 as well as other things to BNG Back Home.

IВ must admit the Ginetta display had the flavour of the old TVR motor show stands.

The Pistonheads show was much smaller this year but still had a smattering of TVRs on display.

The corvette engined cerbera being one as well as are own Paul Taylors V8S and mini.

Then came the purchasing frenzy. I had convinced myself there would be nothing to buy until Dave Hothersall and I stumbled on to the Piloti stand.

For those that don’t knowВ pilotiВ make range of driving shoes and bootsВ in italy and were only available in the states up till this month.

They were nice, and unbeknown to each other Dave and I had always fancied a pair and they were on offer!

After a bit of negotiation we got them to knock off the VAT as well when Keith decided to buy some as well.

So the TVR Blackpool Piloti owners club was inaugurated at the show.

Back to the show. The stand showing a mockup of the world land speed record contender Bloodhound 2 wasВ good.

Dr somebodyВ or other gave us a run down of the workings of the solid fuel rocket booster. Well its not rocket science,

well it is, and the rocket scientistВ В was a young boffin with tweedВ jacket and superb handlebar moustache. TallyВ ho and all that.

And finally to other bits of body work. I was over whelmed to be reunited with the Funcup girls after oulton 2008.

After bragging to them on how big and purple my Sagaris was they just laughed, gave me a look of pity and moved off rapidly to theВ back of the stand.

We finished off with a close up look at all the F1 cars from 2008 with a good view of the aerodynamic differences between the cars.

Keith, Paul and Dave seen having a debate about such a feature on the Renault of Alonso.

I was glad I made a last minute decision to go afterВ having getting a ticket through my employer for the trade day. Thanks to Keith for doing the driving.
