V8 S is faster, focused

The Bentley Continental GT has grown a fair bit since its W12-powered form. First was the GT Speed. also with but with more power the standard car. Then was the mad Conti Supersports that the ice speed world record. into the heavily revised model. the new Conti GT and Speed were joined by a cheaper V8 .

The Continental GT V8 has always been as the more athletic sibling of the offering more driving over the more GT-like W12 In time for Frankfurt 2013, a new addition to the clan #8211; a and even more focussed V8 christened the Bentley Continental GT V8 S. Now a mouthful.

Available as both a coupe and (Conti GTC V8 S), the new model sports and retuned suspension, sharper updated ‘S’ signature styling and a re-profiled soundtrack from the Audi-sourced 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8

Outputs are up by 21 hp and 20 Nm, to 521 hp at 6,000 rpm and 680 Nm of torque at rpm. Through a close-ratio ZF automatic gearbox, the V8 S coupe the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.5 on to a top speed of 309 km/h. That’s a 0.3 and 6 km/h improvement over the V8 coupe.

The convertible isn’t far behind, respective figures of 4.7 seconds and 308 up from the non-S GTC V8’s 4.9 and 302 km/h. Even with performance, the new models’ fuel and CO2 emissions remain class-leading, a touring range of more 805 km between fill-ups.
