Audi RS6

Relaxing to drive, effortlessly but we have found a small in the Audi RS6‘s armour

Having a family to be bussed around during the holidays and a long-termer with doors and a big boot has meant the RS6 has a vision of perpetual motion At least that’s my excuse for the mileage I’ve managed to in the RS6 recently. But it’s not just the of usable space this Audi offers that I about it – there’s the way it delivers on so other useful fronts

One of the more surprising aspects is it’s particularly relaxing to over long distances. may sound strange for such a car, but because the RS6 doesn’t all of its performance potential on its sleeve you can endless miles comfortably and yet all the time safe in the knowledge at any moment, a ballistic overtake is a squeeze of the accelerator away.

The works well too, excellent seats and a real of quality to all the fittings. And I’ll Audi’s MMI over BMW’s any day of the week – it’s so much to navigate than BMW’s system. Even the digital seems to work, which is I’ve not encountered in a car before.

No car is perfect though, and that the RS6, which, for me, has one fundamental that prevents it becoming my family car: you can’t fit a to it. Now, I admit that for people this wouldn’t be a problem, but I can’t believe I’m in wanting to fit a tow-hook to my RS6. Yet discovered that not only is not allowed on the RS6, it’s not on any of Audi’s tasty RS models.

Now, don’t panic. I have a closet desire to the throngs of caravanners that our roads every summer, but I like to be able to occasionally my Enduro bikes to an event, or tow a dingy to the coast. But no.

Audi allow it.

What’s really is that  you can fit a tow-bar to every type of Audi, including the S but with all RS versions (including the departed RS4 and the previous version of the Audi believes there is a risk of the gearbox oil getting too hot if an tries to storm an Alpine at maximum … with an caravan attached, during a wave. I’d argue that is such an unlikely event in life it isn’t worth about, but Audi disagrees, and means that if I were to fit a tow-bar to the RS6 to get round the problem, I’d the warranty. (Interestingly, BMW’s M5 can be with a tow-bar without a

So sadly I will continue to another car in reserve for those rare trips when I to tow a trailer. With the RS6 turning out to be as as it is, that’s a real shame, as it’s not exactly short of power.
