The new Opel Astra: A major step forward. The new Astra is set to revitalize the market presence of Opel in the Car C segment. Sporty coupé-like profile with the functionality of a 5-door hatchback, increased roominess, improved quality in construction and materials, excellent interior design, equipment, and finish are immediately apparent.

Together with reduced noise, vibration and harshness and a wide range of powertrain choices, this all adds up to give overwhelming segment appeal.

Iconic Brand. Sporty good looks, superb comfort, dynamic handling, innovative technology for the segment and a new level of fuel efficiency provide the ingredients for the all new Opel Astra that is set to re-energise this iconic Opel brand in South Africa.

Innovation. This latest generation Astra introduces many new features to the compact segment, importing these from larger vehicles in the Opel range. Amongst these is the advanced mechatronic chassis, the most advanced lighting system yet seen in the compact class and new levels of comfort derived from seats with the best ergonomics in class. This latest Astra raises the bar in the compact class with its feature laden specification, dynamic design, and range of practical features.

This all rounded off with traditional German engineering excellence.

The availability of the FlexRide adaptive suspension system has already been noted. Another advanced feature available on the Astra 1.4T Enjoy Plus is a new generation Opel bi-xenon lighting system. Branded Advanced Forward Lighting (AFL+) by Opel, the system changes its intensity and reach of the beam to suit prevailing driving and road conditions using nine different lighting functions to achieve this.

Another plus is the use of ergonomic sports seats with a 6-way adjustment range. A 4-way adjustment of the lumbar support on the driver’s seat is provided as is an extendable seat cushion. The Astra seat design is the only one in its class to have received an endorsement from an independent panel of ergonomics experts and doctors in Germany who provide the coveted AGR (Action for Healthy Backs) seal of approval.

Stylish, innovative and packed with up-to the-minute technology, the new Opel Astra from General Motors South Africa is set to redefine the compact hatch class.
