Driving an Romeo 156 Ti has always made me special. This is mostly even after the 159 was released to the 156, there was never a for the Ti…never that is, until

It was with mixed feelings that I drove to meet new Ti after having been to view the 159Ti’s before any of the African press had been the privelege of seeing them.

As I out of my car I was met face to face with a Red 159 Ti, menacing even when To anyone who didn’t know any they might think this is just a regular 159 different colour rims, that is very far from the Staying true to their Alfa have left the of the 159 Ti unmodified, with no outrageous kits or flared wheel

There are more subtle that, when combined, the 159 Ti is easily identifiable from the models. The easiest of these to see is the matte black 18 inch wrapped in low profile rubber. The car has lowered stiffened suspension and side skirts giving it a aggressive demeanor.

This is by the split twin chrome pipes. The brake calipers on car were red and added nice from behind the black are Ti badges on the left lower of the boot lid, as well as the side indicators on both

As for the changes made to the interior of the these are more substantial. As you the door there are new 159 Ti aluminium plates and before you get in you also the sporty aluminium race pedals. The sports seats are leather with Alcantara and red stiching and lining, finished the Alfa emblem on the headrests. in them is a dream!

The seats are sporty and race offering a lot of support, practically you in the car, but at the same time are soft and comfortable to sit in, a very combination. Furthermore the front are electrically adjustible and also for those cold winter The black sports multi steering wheel is finished red stitching.

From behind it the black dials, also in red and in the classic Alfa Romeo Other changes on the interior a new black fascia (as opposed to the finish in the standard cars) when combined with the red black dials, make for a feel to the interior of the car. The is immaculate and it all feels very put together, this is a place an Alfanatic would no doubt happy to be in for hours on end.

As these cars were not due to seen on the roads yet, I was not able to drive one to test the enhancements that have made to this model. I however go over them in The 159 Ti forms part of the “Alfa 159 Series 3” group. These are the of the 159’s that will be South African shores, a few noticible changes. As with the Ti models there are two engine

Where the 156 Ti’s were with the option of either the T-Spark, or 2.5L V6 engines, the 159 are to be offered with either the TBi (147kW), which has never featured in the 159 before, or the 3.2 V6 (191kW ) plants. Hearing the 3.2L roar to life (unfortunately to reposition it for a few photographs) made the on the back of my neck stand up, a few bursts on the throttle with the in and you hear the unmistakable hearty of the Alfa V6.

I must admit I felt a lot a kid on Christmas Eve, hearing the noise it produces, but not being to take it out for a drive. This however be possible in due time and I cannot wait.

In terms of the ranges are estimated at R365 000 – 000 for the 159 1750TBi Ti and R420 000 – R450 000 for 3.2 V6 Ti. The cars will be offered Alfa’s 5 year/150 000 km warrantee was launched with the Giulietta, the sevice intervals will be every 35 000 km. Both models also be backed by a 6 year/105 000 km plan.

In my (very biased) mind the 159 Ti had a lot to up to if it was to be a real replacement for the 156 Ti. I am a firm that first impressions are important. My first impressions of the 159 Ti are very good. Alfa has stayed true to form this Ti version and has given a exclusive and appealing look to an stylish vehicle”, as the dealer of the new model put it.

The car looks amazing the minor exterior changes together to give a lot more of an than one would expect. The changes are superb, the quality of the and attention to detail are able to any of its German competitors in my opinion. Is the 159 Ti a replacement for the 156 Ti then? Well it has its first test in terms of its and looks with flying the second half of this is to be experienced when I have the to take the car out and put it through its paces, so for now we call it to be continued#8230;

A big word of thanks must be to Arnold Chatz Motors in Park for allowing us the opportunity to a sneak peak at the new 159 Ti, and for allowing us at to be the first in South Africa to a review on the car.
