2014 Audi TT

The third generation of the Audi TT takes inspiration for it#8217;s design from the first generation, but some details will be based on the current model.

Volkswagen group chief designer Walter de Silva in a recent interview said that he approved the final look of the new TT, shortly before its launch next year. Styling of the first generation was considered excessive, while some felt that the look of the second generation was too lenient. However, the design of the latest model should satisfy all because it will combine the best of its predecessors.

The designer has said that the new TT will be different from the current Audi models, especially in the front, while the sides and rear to keep the distinctive lines.

New generation of TT models will share the same driveline characteristics as the current A3 model. There will be a significant reduction in weight compared to the current base model (1260kg). Audi will offer a choice of two-seater roadster (cloth roof) as well as 2 +2 coupe. Roadster will appear on the market in the 2015th.

As with the current model, customers will be able to choose between two versions: with front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

Among the many new details in the exterior design, there are primarily six-sided singleframe grille, low-mounted air intakes as well as the #8220;wave-like#8221; LED headlights and engine bonnet with a sharper contour lines.

The build quality of the vehicle will be much improved and will be paid attention to details, starting with the longer wheelbase. The chassis will be stronger and lighter in order to improve weight distribution and handling. The new Audi TT will retain the basic dimensions of the current model #8211; 4185mm long, 1840mm wide and 1350mm tall, and it will use a MQB platform, which is used by some other models of the Volkswagen#8217;s Group (Audi A3, Skoda Octavia and Volkswagen Golf Mk7).

As for the engine, under the hood of the new TT there will be a 1.8 and 2.0 petrol engines, 2.0 diesel engine (front-wheel drive model), while the four-wheel drive models will use a more powerful 2.0 or 2.5 liter petrol engines. All of these engines will have cylinder shutdown mechanism, as one of many measures to reduce fuel consumption.

The interior will include an instrument panel with a large animated display (which will be borrowed from the future R8 model), and the standard sports seats covered with leather.
