2013 Subaru Tribeca

The Japanese Subaru company has been manufacturing cars since 1953 and are continually adding new models to their line of vehicles. One of the newest is a midsize crossover sports utility vehicle called the Subaru Tribeca, introduced in 2005 and now their largest model. (TriBeCa is the name of a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan.) These vehicles are marketed in the United States, Australia, China, and parts of South America and Southeast Asia, but not in Japan. Only the 2013 Subaru Tribeca will be discussed in this article.

Construction of the 2013 Tribeca

During this year the Tribeca will be produced exclusively in a Limited trim, which includes leather covering for the front and rear seats, a HomeLink remote control, hands-off Bluetooth capacity, a ten-speaker audio system and ambient lighting for the inside. (The other two trims for the Subaru Tribeca are Premium and Touring.) The car is big enough to seat seven riders, has a four-wheel drive and runs on 0.95 gallons of gasoline. The front seats may be heated.

Horsepower is 256 @6,000 rpm. Airbags are provided for safety in both the front and the back seats—those in the front are dual stage, and first- and second- row curtain and seat-mounted side impact bags are also present. Other safety features include a tire pressure monitor and head restraints. Cargo capacity is 74.4 cubic feet.

The purchaser may also request a moonroof or a DVD entertainment system.

The 2013 Subaru Tribeca comes in the following six colors:

crystal black silica

deep indigo pearl

graphite gray metallic

ice silver metallic

satin white pearl

Venetian red pearl

Like all other SUVs, the 2013 Subaru Tribeca has a cargo area in addition to the front and back seats. There is a compartment beneath the floor of the cargo area in which additional luggage may be carried. All types of the latest car technology are present here.

The standard car entertainment system—a radio and a CD player, which can switch among up to four CDs—are present, and as mentioned earlier, a DVD system may also be installed. Below the radio, on either side of the seatbelt indicator, are temperature indicators for the front and the rear. The back seat is very roomy and luxurious.

Safety features in the driving control

We mentioned the airbags and other safety implementations earlier in this article. To enable the driver of the car to maintain better steering control, the designers of this model have put in a Vehicle Dynamics Control system that includes all-wheel drive and traction control. Anti-lock, brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution have been installed onto the brakes and a tire pressure monitoring system has been included.

A rear view camera can optionally be included.

What customers like about this car

Those who have bought a 2013 Subaru Tribeca have found it to be a breeze in many ways. Getting in and out is quite easy—there is no need to bend down or step up. It is easy to locate the controls and operate them.

The sideview mirrors also provide excellent visibility.

Some things that could use improvement

The 2013 Tribeca has indeed been greatly improved over previous models, but still there are a few things that could be made better. Some drivers have found the cushions in the front are not deep enough to allow for thigh support, and the back support also needs more attention.
