2013 Audi Q7 | Review, Prices, Specs, Release Date. #8211; Now, The 2013 Audi Q7 is as large as it is luxurious, and though it carries forward largely unchanged from 2012, it still offers a lot in the way of on road capability and comfort for the family though it doesn#8217;t bother with much in the way of serious off road capability.

Not that you#8217;re likely to need much in the way of off road capability, anyway, of course. On road, the quattro all wheel drive will tackle harsh conditions with grace. Don#8217;t let the extra size of the Audi Q7 compared to the related Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne fool you, if anything, the extra wheelbase improves ride quality and composure while maintaining (most of) the relative nimbleness for a large SUV.

From the curb, the Audi Q7 is an attractive, elegant vehicle, without any of the rock crawling, safari driving pretensions you#8217;ll find elsewhere. Crisp lines and smooth surfaces combine for a look that#8217;s adult and sophisticated with being stodgy. Inside, you#8217;ll find one of the best interiors in the class, with rich leather, suede, and wood creating a warm and refined environment.

The controls are largely sleek and uncluttered, though the climate and audio controls can be a bit daunting at first glance.

Audi is working on a brand new generation of its Q7 luxury SUV, though the current model still has a least a whole model year to get through. So, to keep buyers enticed Audi is offering the fuel efficient TDI model with an uprated engine. Today we have several all new models, revealed ahead of their New York Auto show debuts but first we have the upcoming 2014 Audi Q7, spied even before it has progressed past test mule status.

The Q7 was Audi#8217;s first foray into the luxury crossover segment, but since its debut the automaker has added the Q5, a smaller and less expensive crossover. The Q7 seats up to seven people in three rows of seats and can be equipped with a gas or diesel V-6. The Q7 competes with the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GL-Class and Acura MDX.

2013 Audi Q7 Price :

Pricing on the 2013 Audi Q7 starts at $47,695, while the 2013 Q7 TDI model will set you back at least $52,895. Note, both prices are inclusive of an $895 destination charge.

2013 Audi Q7 Interior :

Despite the large, in your face grille, the overall look of the 2013 Audi Q7 is understated and sleek, particularly for a full size crossover. For some, the big grille will spoil the look, echoing the chrome heavy decorations of some American full size SUVs, but for others, it gives the low key Q7 some character. Whichever side you#8217;re on regarding the grille, the rest of the Q7 is well proportioned and tastefully sculpted, however.

The silhouette is long and low, especially by comparison to some competing luxury crossovers, and the details at the front and rear are modern and high tech looking.

As is the case with nearly all Audis, the 2013 Audi Q7#8242;s interior receives high marks for its understated design and use of top notch materials. The dash is clearly built around the driver, and controls are fairly easy to operate with some practice. In terms of comfort, adult-sized passengers will be well accommodated in the first two rows. The third row, however, is suitable only for smaller children; most rivals provide quite a bit more space.

Furthermore, cargo space falls short of the competition, with only 72.5 cubic feet of space with the second and third rows folded flat that#8217;s about the same as a Honda CR-V.

The Q7#8242;s rear rows of seats fold flat to provide more storage space. Audi#8217;s optional Multi Media Interface information and navigation system features enhanced voice activation, so you can speak commands such as #8220;I need gas#8221; or #8220;I need coffee,#8221; and the computer will map your closest options. Interior features include:

. Standard heated leather front seats.

. Standard iPod interface.

. Optional Bang Olufsen stereo.

. Optional heated steering wheel.

. Optional dual-screen rear seat entertainment system.

. Available Audi Connect Wi-Fi.

2013 Audi Q7 Exterior :

The 2013 Audi Q7 is a full size, seven passenger luxury SUV. It is available in Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige trims, with slight differences based on whether you opt for the TDI or 3.0T engines.

The Premium comes standard with 18 inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, roof rails, a power liftgate (with programmable opening angle), heated mirrors, automatic wipers, dual zone automatic climate control, eight way power front seats with heating and four way lumbar, leather upholstery, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, a sliding/reclining 40/20/40 split second row seat and an auto dimming rearview mirror. Electronic features include Bluetooth phone connectivity, Audi#8217;s Multi Media Interface (MMI) and an 11 speaker sound system with console mounted six CD changer, in dash single CD player, satellite radio and an iPod interface. The TDI Premium gets 19 inch wheels and additional exterior chrome trim.

For a crossover, the Q7 has a relatively sleek profile, and it wears Audi#8217;s signature grille. Adaptive xenon high intensity discharge headlights with LED daytime running lights and a panoramic sunroof are optional. Exterior features include :

. 18, 19, 20 or 21 inch wheels.

2013 Audi Q7 Engine :

The Audi Q7 has established itself in the luxury SUV class with bold styling, numerous tech features and five star safety ratings. The Q7 is available with three different engine choices, two supercharged, direct injection 3.0 liter gasoline engines, one with 272 hp, the other, on the S line trim, with 333 hp. A 240-hp 3.0 liter V6 direct injection diesel (TDI) is also available, and they are all mated to a Tiptronic eight speed automatic transmission and quattro all wheel drive.

Standard features include leather upholstery, heated seats, automatic dual zone climate control, 6 disc audio system and 18 inch wheels, power liftgate, auto dimming mirrors, Bluetooth, bi xenon headlights. The TDI adds 19 inch wheels and chrome exterior trim. The S line adds even more standard luxuries such as Bose audio, three panel sunroof, sunshades, side assist, advanced key and 20 inch wheels.

The diesel Audi Q7 TDI#8217;s 3.0-liter turbocharged engine is a much milder $5,000 upgrade from the base model.

The real story with the diesel, however, aside from the improved fuel efficiency, is the 407 pound foot torque rating, which gives the big Q7 plenty of acceleration and pulling power, feeling as strong or stronger than the higher-power gasoline engines in most circumstances.

Whichever engine you choose, the Audi Q7 is surprisingly nimble for its size, driving more like a car than an SUV. Standard quattro all wheel drive gives the Q7 good all-weather capability and dependable traction in general. The power steering is well-weighted and confident, with better feedback than you#8217;ll find in some sedans.

Ride quality is very good, thanks to the suspension design and air ride system, which allows the driver to select comfort, dynamic, or automatic modes to suit the mood and road conditions.

The Q7#8242;s powertrain lineup consists of two supercharged gasoline V-6s and a turbocharged diesel V-6, all of which team with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Mechanical features include:

. 280 hp, supercharged 3.0 liter gas V-6 in 3.0.

. 333 hp, supercharged 3.0 liter gas V-6 in 3.0 S line.

. 240 hp, turbocharged 3.0 liter diesel V-6 in TDI makes 406 pounds feet of torque.

. Standard Quattro all wheel drive.

. Optional adaptive air suspension.

Powering the 2013 Audi Q7 3.0T Premium and Premium Plus is a supercharged 3.0 liter V6 that produces 280 hp and 295 pound feet of torque. The 3.0T S line version of this engine increases power output to 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. An eight speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive are standard.
