Exterior Features

The 2012 Suzuki SX4 is available in a sedan body style and in two versions of a hatchback style–SportBack and Crossover–with all-wheel drive (AWD) available on the hatchbacks. The Crossover offers roof rack rails and heated outside mirrors.

Interior Features

The Suzuki SX4 sedan includes power windows and a tilt-adjustable steering wheel as standard, as well as a few other features. Amenity level rises considerably in the hatchbacks, with the SportBack adding a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and both versions adding remote keyless entry and a pollen filter.

Optional Features

The 2012 Suzuki SX4 offers options that increase in significance through the body-style lineup. The sedan offers MP3 playback, cruise control, and alloy wheels. Options for the SportBack and Crossover models include an integrated touch-screen navigation system and connectivity services.

Only the Crossover offers heated driver and passenger front seats.

Under the Hood

All three models of the 2012 Suzuki SX4 are powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 150 horsepower and mated with either a manual transmission or an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Fuel Economy

EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Suzuki SX4 are:

– SX4 Sedan with manual transmission: 23/33 mpg (city/highway)

– SX4 Sedan with CVT: 25/32 mpg

– SX4 SportBack with manual transmission: 22/30 mpg

– SX4 SportBack with CVT: 23/30 mpg

– SX4 Crossover with manual transmission: 22/30 mpg

– SX4 Crossover with CVT: 23/29 mpg


Standard safety features on all models of the 2012 Suzuki SX4 include 8 air bags, electronic stability control, brake assist, and tire-pressure monitoring.

In government tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), all three SX4 models received 4 (out of 5) stars for rollover protection. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), all three models received #34;Good#34; ratings–the Institute’s highest–for frontal-offset and side-impact crash protection, and #34;Marginal#34; ratings for roof strength and rear crash protection.
