Renault Megane Review

Renault Megane is a third-generation car that had become an excellent choice for those who want a car for their families. The car is considered to be the best to accommodate a small family comfortably while giving pleasurable ride to each one of the traveler. The car is very flexible and has been designed to challenge its rivals Ford Focus as well as Volkswagen Golf. The 2012 Renault Megane has received a big improvement in terms of quality when compared with the previous models.

However, you can find changes through the arrays of bodystyles that the manufacturer has provided for a change in the 2012 market.

Pros :

Renault Megane boasts amazing quality, provides smooth and comfort ride and comes for a good value for money.

Cons :

The car does not provide good amount of back seat space to the passengers. It has less fin as compared to its rivals. Also styling is little old.

The 2012 Renault Megane is considered to be a flexible car that easily meets the needs of a family.

The car is marketed as a third generation model that comes with a series of enhancements. There are total five variants for the 2012 model year which includes sporty 3-door, Renault Sport coupes and Cabriolet 4-seater along with a folding metal roof. There is also a 5-door model that comes with a series of engines including a 2.0 liter DCi diesel engine that go hand-in-hand with performance and economy.

Interior and Exterior :

The 2012 Renault Megane has got a lot of curvaceous styling and looks quirky when the styling of this revamped model is compared with the previous one. The current model of Renault Megane comes with a lot of changes and is still considered to be a beautiful 5-door model that looks simple than the other models #8211; Sleeker coupe and ST estate.

When it comes to the GT trim level, the car looks unique due to the addition of fine paint colors and fittings of 18 inches of anthracite alloy wheels. However, the base model of this car gets small steel rims instead of expensive and innovative features. At the rear of the car can be found soft touch plastics that add masculine look, but despite its clean layout, several controls of this car seem like unnecessary efforts given by Renault, for example the stereo.

For Renault, Megane plays a significant role just like how Volkswagen thinks of its Golf. The car gets contemporary features, good looks, impressive interior, and dynamic driving on road. At the interior of this car, Renault has added a single CD/MP3 system that is loaded with AUX/USB inputs as well as Bluetooth compatibility along with audio streaming.

Much more interesting is its sunroof that makes this car distinct in its class. The car gets rising glass house that dominates the side profile of this car, curvy C-pillar, sloping roof line and modern look, and the rear look of this car is perfectly accentuated by a clever curvy hatch and tail lights. The Renault Megane runs smoothly on the road and sports a 6-spoke 17 inches of impressive alloy wheels.

The interior boasts new upholstery with alcantara or pack leather in 2-tone. The GT and GT-Line gets Boomerang LED lights, sports steering wheel, red upholstery stitching, dashboard trip strip, and doorsill guards (with Renault Sport Badge).

The exterior gives a fabulous attraction with the help of added LED daytime running lights as well as restyled wheels. The overall exterior design of this car is very enchanting and demands attention of all people while cruising on the road.

Engine and Performance :

The 2012 Renault Megane comes with a 1.5 liter dCi engine that propels a maximum power of 81 kW at 4000 rpm and maximum torque rate of 240 Nm at 1750 rpm. The diesel variant of this car had its debut in Australia with 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The automaker in its statement had announced that the car delivers reduced fuel consumption as well as exhaust CO2 emissions by 17%.

The Renault Megane comes loaded with a handy dashboard layout sporty steering wheel along with adjustable rake and reach fittings and instrument graphics along with digital speedo.

The standard variant of this car runs on same platform like the Megane RS 250 hatchback with 81 kW at 240 Nm torque. There is another engine option #8211; 1.5 litre turbo-diesel engine that that has been outgunned by Ford Focus which sits under its hood a 2.0 litre engine that easily challenges the similar 1.6 litre engines provided in Volkswagen and Peugeot. The car sports good looks, quality, value for money and better driving dynamics than the previous model.

When Megane is driven on road, the comfy suspension and non-interfering wind makes the car much more pleasing from inside. The steering wheel gives perfect smoothness and accuracy. There are two entry level engines #8211; 1.6 litre petrol that delivers 99 bhp of power and 1.5 litre diesel that delivers 89 bhp.

The other trims especially the 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol and other diesels propel good amount of performance.

All the Megane trims provide relatively efficient engines with better MPG rating, ensuring best balance between economy and performance. The 1.4 TCe turbo engine (petrol) delivers 44.8 mpg and churns out 145 grams per kilometer, whereas; the 1.9 litre dCi engine (diesel) delivers 55.4 mpg and 135 grams per kilometer. The car has been tweaked with special ECO versions that drop the carbon dioxide further to around 106 grams per kilometer.

Unlike other challenging cars, the Megane enables the owners to flip the seats of the rear seats while making things comfortable for the passengers. After folding the rear seat, you get 1,129 litre of flat area for luggage. After putting the seats up, the boot space gets retracted to 372 litres which is slightly short as compared to its rival Volkswagen Golf.

For convenience, Renault has added a tiny glovebox where a single small cupholder can be found at the centre console, but obstructs the stereo controls of the car. For rear seat passengers, the space can be a problem, especially for taller passengers who have to manage with tight legroom and headroom.
