A comfortable ride, along with loads of interior space and standard features make the 2011 Toyota Avalon a solid choice among 2011 large cars. Additionally, the Avalon’s strong safety and reliability ratings make it a smart buy for used car shoppers.

The Toyota Avalon received a number of updates for 2011, including a revised front and back end, along with several additional standard interior features, like Bluetooth and a USB port. As a highway cruiser, test drivers said the Avalon performs admirably. The Avalon has a soft and quiet ride, tuned with comfort in mind, but reviewers thought that it has adequate passing power. While it’s not sporty, reviewers liked the Avalon’s tight turning radius.

Compared with other 2011 large cars, the Avalon also delivers good fuel economy. The Avalon also has excellent safety ratings and an above-average reliability score.

Inside, reviewers were impressed with the Avalon’s luxurious fit and finish. The 2011 Avalon received a revised dashboard and center stack, however, some test drivers had issues with the control layout. When it was new, reviewers raved about the comfort and spaciousness inside the Avalon.

Reviewers especially liked the rear seats, which recline to improve comfort, but don’t fold down for additional cargo space. The Avalon has less cargo space than most large cars, but there’s ample space for five adults.

With only two trims, the Avalon comes packed with plenty of standard features like a power sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats with front power adjustment, a nine-speaker stereo, satellite radio, USB and auxiliary input jacks and Bluetooth. Stepping up to the Limited trim gets you a 12-speaker JBL stereo, heated and ventilated front seats and a power rear sunshade. Other available features include navigation and a backup camera.

Other Cars to Consider

If you’re looking for good performance and top-of-the-line cabin electronics, the 2011 Ford Taurus is worth a look. When it was new, reviewers praised the Taurus’ handling, interior comfort and control layout. With comparable powertrains, the Avalon gets slightly better fuel economy. Still, the Taurus has more cargo space and a slightly higher reliability rating, which helped it win our 2011 Best Family Sedan for the Money Award .

The Chrysler 300 was completely redesigned for 2011, offering a luxurious and spacious interior as well as outstanding safety scores. When it was new, the 300 was well-liked by reviewers for its improved interior material quality and standard infotainment system. However, reviewers disliked the outdated five-speed automatic transmission.
