2011 Nissan Pathfinder Overview

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the versatile and steady 2011 Nissan Pathfinder SUV adds a few new trim levels to go along with its already stellar reputation for excellence.

Available in four trim levels: S, SV (formerly SE), Silver Edition (special for this year) and LE, with two engine options, the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder has it all. To save on fuel, a 266-horsepower, 4.0-liter V-6 produces 288 pounds-feet of torque. But if you crave power, a 310-horsepower, 5.6-liter V-8 cranks out 388 pounds-feet of torque.

Both engines are mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and all models can be equipped with rear- or four-wheel drive, including automatic and low-range modes (LE V-8 is four-wheel drive only). The 2011 Pathfinder is strong enough to tow up to 7,000 pounds with a standard tow-hitch receiver.

The 2011 Nissan Pathfinder is bigger than the Murano SUV, more refined than the Xterra SUV, but smaller than the full-size Armada. Competition for the Pathfinder includes the Ford Explorer and Jeep Commander. As for fuel economy, you get what you pay for, and what you’re paying for is a large, off-road capable SUV.

That being said, the 2011 Pathfinder receives 14-15 mpg in the city and 20-22 mpg on the highway.

Exterior options include 16-, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, running boards, heated mirrors, power moonroof and automatic headlights. Power mirrors and a rear window that flips up independently of the liftgate come standard. On the inside, the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder seats seven in split and folding second (40/20/40) and third (50/50) rows.

The Pathfinder offers 79.2 cubic feet of cargo space with both rows folded, and 48.9 cubic feet behind the second row. Storage is also available under the second-row seats and there are eight utility hooks in the rear cargo area to help whatever you need to bring along stay put.

The new Silver Edition ups the ante with leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, Bluetooth® connectivity, XM Radio and Nissan’s integrated key-fob entry system. Other optional interior features found in the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder include dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, navigation system, heated steering wheel, Bose audio system and DVD entertainment system with 7-inch color monitor.

A fully-boxed, all-steel ladder-style frame serves as a strong underpinning for both reliable off-roading and occupant protection roles. An electronic stability system and antilock brakes help the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder avoid impact whenever possible, for even safer travel.

Take it to the next level whether you’re driving in the back woods, or to downtown with the powerful, spacious and safe 2011 Nissan Pathfinder.
