2011 Jeep Patriot, Chrysler Grand Voyager Revealed, Q2 2011 Australia Launch Planned

Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne#39;s promised updates will soon hit the road in the US, starting this week with the reveal of the 2011 Chrysler Grand Voyager (Town Country in the US) and the Jeep Patriot .

Sporting the brand-new Chrysler badge revealed late last year, the 2011 Grand Voyager comes in for a raft of subtle but significant updates, including a number of styling tweaks and Chrysler#39;s new Pentastar V6 petrol engine.

On the outside, the updated Grand Voyager gets Chrysler#39;s new upmarket-looking family grille up front, along with a new front bumper and a revised bonnet design.

At the rear, there#39;s a new bumper and subtly-tweaked taillights, while a new chrome-adorned tailgate rounds out the exterior updates.

The cabin has also come in for an overhaul, with an updated dash featuring a brand-new instrument panel, along with a new steering wheel and wheel-mounted controls. Materials are updated, too, with soft-touch plastics and new cloth and leather upholstery.

Power for the 2011 Grand Voyager comes from the same four-cylinder engine as the outgoing model, along with Chrysler#39;s new Pentastar V6. already driving the recently-launched 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (coming to Australia next year).

The 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 produces 209kW and 352Nm of torque and, with the Grand Voyager, is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. In Australia, the current Grand Voyager is powered by a 3.8 litre V6 producing a significantly lower 142kW and 305Nm of torque.

Other upgrades include revised suspension and handling, along with a fuel economiser designed to optimise fuel consumption.

2011 Jeep Patriot

The Jeep Patriot has also come in for a final update before its Fiat-based replacement arrives in 2013. and while less extensive than anticipated, enhancements for 2011 include exterior and interior tweaks and minor mechanical upgrades.

Chrysler Grand Voyager

The 2011 Patriot gets a new front bumper with foglights as standard equipment, along with a new rear bumper, 17-inch alloy wheels and four new colour choices.

A revised steering and suspension tune makes up the bulk of the mechanical updates, with 4×4 models getting a bump in height of one inch.

As with the Grand Voyager, the interior of the Patriot gets a modest update with new soft-touch plastics and a new steering wheel with wheel-mounted controls. Chrysler#39;s Uconnect Voice Command system is also now available across the Patriot range.


Speaking with TMR today, Chrysler Australia#39;s Dean Bonthorne confirmed that both the updated Patriot and Grand Voyager are on track for a local launch.

All of the new Chrysler brand product will feature the stylish new corporate #39;wings#39; logo that will be introduced in Australia next year, along with the new Dodge logo that came out of the RAM sub-brand being split off into its own separate brand.
