2011 Audi S4 Overview

Sleek design, German quality, and a top-notch driving experience perfectly encapsulate the essence of the performance-oriented 2011 Audi S4 sedan.

The Audi S4 is the performance version of the A4 and boasts a 333-horsepower, 3.0-liter supercharged V-6. That muscle gets bolted to a six-speed manual or Audi’s seven-speed, dual-clutch S Tronic transmission, and all S4’s feature Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system for maximum traction.

The S Tronic acts like a standard automatic transmission to the casual observer, but it is one of the world’s most advanced transmissions and when pushed it delivers arguably the world’s fastest shifting on a production streetcar. The 2011 S4 delivers 18 mpg in the city and 27-28 mpg on the highway and competes with the BMW 335i, Acura TL, and Mercedes-Benz C350.

At first glance, the S4 grabs your attention without screaming for it; subtle exterior features like a distinct grille and bumper, as well as a front underbody splitter differentiate it from it’s regular A4 cousin. The 2011 S4 rests on 18-inch wheels with performance tires, and is available in two trims: Premium Plus and upscale Prestige, which sits atop 19-inch wheels. Audi’s xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, S4 sport seats, quad exhaust pipes, ambient center console illumination, and three-zone climate control are standard on both trims.

The 2011 S4’s interior is loaded with many more standard features including a sunroof, leather and Alcantara seats, alloy and wood interior trim, heated eight-way power adjustable driver and front passenger seats, Bluetooth connectivity, a 180-watt 10-speaker stereo with Audi’s MMI multimedia interface, and iPod integration. A rear view camera, TV with DVD entertainment system, keyless entry and ignition, navigation system, and a premium Bang Olufsen audio system are optional.

Audi’s Space Frame technology provides a strong all aluminum-alloy structure under the sleek skin of the 2011 S4. The aluminum frame is hundreds of pounds lighter than a conventional steel frame, which enhances fuel economy and handling, as well as acceleration.

While it is light, the space frame is also very strong – in conjunction with front, front-side, and two-row head airbags, this structure delivers excellent crash ratings across the board. Antilock brakes with a brake assist, traction, and stability control systems help the driver to avoid performing their own crash tests.

With supreme handling, robust power and exquisite style, the 2011 Audi S4 is built to be driven with intent and purpose.
