2010 Volvo S80 Overview

The 2010 Volvo S80 radiates the manufacturer’s self-described “Scandinavian luxury” with a powerful V-8 engine option, sporty appearance and trademark safety technologies.

Facing competition from BMW 528, Audi A6 and Saab 9-5, the 2010 Volvo S80 luxury sedan is available in 3.2, T6 AWD and V8 AWD trim levels. The front-wheel-drive S80 3.2 is powered by a 235-horsepower, 3.2-liter inline-6; the all-wheel-drive S80 T6 is equipped with a 281-horsepower, turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6; and the all-wheel-drive S80 V8 features a mighty 311-horsepower, 4.4-liter V-8 that can hit 0-60 in just 5.9 seconds. All engines are mated to a standard six-speed automatic transmission and maximum EPA estimated fuel economy ratings are 18 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway.

Sleek and flashy, but not obnoxiously so, the 2010 Volvo S80 sits on either 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels and features a new front grille and standard power heated mirrors with integrated turn signals. Chrome trim accents have been applied to the S80’s taillights, lower front fascia and lower door side moldings.

Inside, the 2010 Volvo S80 benefits from standard leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shifter and brake handle. Of course, you can always choose from an abundance of options that enable you to drive in style, including a moon roof, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front and rear seats, upgraded Dynaudio sound system, dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system for rear-seat occupants and navigation system with real-time traffic controls so you never get lost again. The interior is roomy with 97.7 cubic feet of passenger volume and 14.9 cubic feet of cargo volume with 60/40-split rear seats folded flat.

Volvo has a reputation for being on the forefront of safety technology and the 2010 S80 is no exception. Standard features include side-impact and side curtain airbags and an antilock braking system with hydraulic brake assist. Available features are plenty, starting with a blind spot warning system that detects unnoticed vehicles and a collision warning system that warns you of an impending rear-end collision ahead.

A lane departure warning system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, parking assistance camera and adaptive cruise controlwhich detects traffic ahead and automatically applies the proper amount of brake pressureare also offered.

The 2010 Volvo S80 is the Swedish manufacturer’s most luxurious sedan boasting a seemingly unlimited amount of convenience features, a hefty V-8 engine option and the utmost in proactive safety technologies that will never let you down.
