Used Car: 2010 Toyota Camry Review

Practical, reliable, comfortable and spacious are words test drivers used to describe the 2010 Toyota Camry when it was new. The Camry is a solid choice within its class, but reviewers said it won’t wow you behind the wheel.

The 2010 Toyota Camry is ranked:

The 2010 Toyota Camry is a good used car for shoppers more concerned with reliability than they are with sporty looks and engaging performance. The Camry has competitive fuel economy and a large interior and trunk, which make it a smart buy for families or drivers who frequently have passengers in the car. When the Camry was new, test drivers also liked its comfortable, quiet ride and smooth engines.

Auto critics considered the Camry’s bland performance a downside when it was new, but some shoppers may not be looking for exciting performance from their next used sedan. Reviewers were also disappointed with the Camry’s exterior style, even though it was mildly refreshed for 2010. They said despite the changes, the Camry still didn’t stand out from the pack.

Some test drivers noted a few cheap interior materials, saying the build quality and materials weren’t up to the high standards of previous Camrys.

The front-wheel drive 2010 Toyota Camry has a four-cylinder or V6 engine. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, and a six-speed automatic is available. With the four-cylinder, the 2010 Camry gets up to 22/32 mpg city/highway, which is slightly better than most 2010 midsize cars.

Base models come standard with cruise control and a six-speaker stereo, while features like an upgraded stereo, sunroof, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth and navigation are available as options or on higher trims. Seven airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control are included as standard safety features on the 2010 Camry.

Other Cars to Consider

One of the most common sentiments about the 2010 Toyota Camry is that it’s boring to drive. If you want a fun-to-drive used midsize car, the 2010 Mazda6 should be on your list. When it was new, test drivers said it was one of the best-handling and most exciting cars to drive. Families will also like the Mazda6’s huge interior and trunk, while other shoppers may like its sporty styling and modern interior design.

The Mazda6 has slight better safety ratings, but the Camry beats it with better fuel economy and reliability.

The 2010 Honda Accord has a better safety score than the 2010 Camry, but its reliability rating isn’t quite as good. Both cars offer good fuel economy and spacious interiors, but neither of them offers stand-out exterior styling. Test drivers thought the Accord is a tad sportier than the Camry, thanks to its more athletic handling and more powerful available V6 engine.

The 2010 Accord is also available as a coupe for shoppers who are willing to sacrifice some practicality, but want a sportier-looking midsize car.
