Used Car: 2010 Pontiac Vibe Review

With lots of cargo space and good safety and reliability scores, car reviewers said that the 2010 Pontiac Vibe is a practical choice for small car shoppers.

The 2010 Pontiac Vibe is ranked:

When it was new, car reviewers liked the 2010 Pontiac Vibe because of its huge cargo area. Even with the rear seats in use, the Vibe has one of the largest cargo spaces in the class, and with the rear seats folded, the available space competes with compact SUVs. Though the Vibe has cavernous cargo space, back-seat legroom is a bit cramped.

The Vibe’s list of standard interior features is adequate for the class, and includes satellite radio and a four-speaker stereo. Higher trims and option packages offer air conditioning, an upgraded stereo and satellite radio. The Vibe also comes standard with electronic stability control, four-wheel anti-lock brakes and traction control, which some 2010 small cars don’t have as standard equipment.

The Pontiac Vibe also has good safety scores.

Test drivers said the Vibe’s base 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine has decent power, but most preferred the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which comes with higher trims. Though the Vibe’s fuel economy ratings, which top out at 26/32 mpg city/highway, aren’t high for the class, they are good for a car that has as much cargo space as the Vibe. All-wheel drive is available on the Vibe, which is rare in this class.

The 2010 Pontiac Vibe isn’t flashy, but it has great cargo space, can come with all-wheel drive and has above-average reliability and safety scores.

Other Cars to Consider

You can’t get a 2010 Scion xD with all-wheel drive, but it does come packed with a lot of features. The xD’s list of safety features is comparable to the Vibe’s, and it comes with a lot more interior tech, such as a Pioneer stereo and a USB port. However, the xD’s cargo area isn’t as spacious as the Vibe’s, and its passenger accommodations are tight.

If you aren’t worried about getting a used small car that’s equipped with all-wheel drive, but still need a lot of interior space, consider the highly-rated 2010 Honda Fit. The Fit’s cargo space is very versatile thanks to its Magic Seat that folds different ways to help you store awkwardly-shaped cargo. In addition, the Fit has great safety scores and a good reliability score, making it one of the most practical cars in the class.
