Written by: paulanyfl on Dec 4, 2012 5:52:50 PM

Get this, I just purchased a 2007 Saturn Ion redline on Saturday 12/1/12 and that night the key got stuck in the ignition. It is a manual, so we stalled it out to stop the car running but the lights remained on. Had it towed to dealer Monday morning because the battery was dead and was told later that day that it need a new ignition lock at a cost of. Read More

I have a 2007 Saturn Ion. My key was stuck in the ignition and I was using the car for a long time by simply unplugging the green connector from the back of the ignition switch to turn off the car and plugging it back in to start the car. After about a year of this the wires to the green connector broke.

I tried to repair this yet again which. Read More

Power Steering/Electrical Issue (Won’t Shift Gears)

I have been reading through this forum since my 2007 Saturn Ion started having power steering issues. It suddenly started one day when it shut off all of a sudden while I was driving. From then it has been off and on for no reason.

I tried replacing the 60 amp fuse that controls the power steering (though the other one wasn’t blown) and that didn’t help. Then all of a. Read More

I am having a similar problem with my 2005 Saturn Ion. The power steering stopped working, the speedometer stopped working (it remains at 0 regardless of my speed), also the odometer doesn’t seem to work either – my mileage does not increment when I drive. There is an engine diagnostic code of P0502.

I saw posts from 2007 Saturn Ion owners who say that they received letters from GM in 2009. Read More

Jennifer, Dream on! Just kidding of course. If GM had a plan to hav a recall, why did they then let this problem remain for all this time! We encounterd this specific problem in 2007 on one of our dozen plus ION’s, less and one thousand miles out of warranty but still within 36 months.

The dealership mishandled the repair, could never show what parts (lock-cylinder etc) they replaced but charged. Read More

There is no reason to reflash or reprogram the bcm when replacing the ignition switch all you have to do is relearn the pass lock sensor in the new switch for the bcm this can be done manually with no computers or special tools.I have replaced so many of these switches i have lost count from the first year ion 2003 to the last ion 2007 i have only relearned the. Unfortunately for me. I brought it to a mechanic and he installed a new battery which I did not know I even needed. Cost me $183 and it was there for 3.5 months and he told me last week when I went to have it towed to GM that the battery had been drained and was not starting each time. they had to charge it.

I had the car sitting for. Read More

I have had my 2003 Saturn sitting for 3 months because of this. I researched it last year and the problem is the ignition switch solonoid. They are easy to swap out and cheap ($25).

I don’t have the tools to do it and had bought another car and I am lazy; so it isn’t fixed yet. It is the lubricant (grease) in the switch that is the failpoint and causes. Read More

I have had the same problem too. Just yesterday I try to turn the key to kill the engine and it wouldn’t turn! I wasn’t freaking out. I finally had to leave work and drive it to my local mechanic and after looking at it, he told me I have to replace the ignition system in the steering column. something like that.

The key was stuck. He opened the steering column up. Read More

Hi, I just ran into a problem this weekend when I went to the store and tried to turn my car off and it wouldn’t turn off. Its the holiday and no one was open. I called a locksmith and he wouldn’t touch my car since it was a 2007. He said I shouldn’t be having those problems.

The dealership was closed and I will be calling them in the morning. Read More

This seems to be very good information. I looked in my 2007 Ion manual and could not find details without reading the whole manual. Can you post where the info is located? I called AAA and the driver opened the fuse box and pulled the ECM (engine control module?) fuse to shut the engine down. He replaced the fuse and we re-started the engine.

The engine ran VERY rough. Hope it. Read More

Saturn Ion ignition key stuck?

Written by: orbit9090 on Aug 26, 2010 8:19:38 AM

Saturn Ion ignition key stuck? A possible solution is to replace the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) SOLENOID. The Saturn dealership pronounced it bitsy cell-a-noid – It is the circuit that tells the keylock mechanism that the car is parked and allows the key to rotate to Off.

I was experiencing intermittent problem whereby ignition key would not remove from ignition switch after automatic transmission is placed in Park. Replace the. Read More
