What’s New

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class gets an improved suspension system for greater handling and safety on a slow drive. The interior of this model confirms the luxury brand with plenty of high-quality leather and several power fittings to add to the ease of use and owner comforts. A notable addition to this model, a locking system for the rear and center differential, allows for a ground clearance raiser to give an offroad option when the need arises.

The exterior of the GL-Class looks long, measuring 200.3 inches. It also offers 7.9 inches of ground clearance, giving it some offroad advantage. Cargo capacity with the seats in place reaches 14.3 cubic feet, and it expands to 83.3 cubic feet with the rear seats collapsed.

2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class models sit on a 121.1-inch wheelbase and offer a 7500-pound towing capacity with optimum equipment. Eighteen-inch alloy wheels come fitted with 265/60R H all-season tires.

The GL-Class also features signal-fitted and heated mirrors, an intermittent rain-sensing rear wiper, rain-sensing front wipers, a rear defogger, a rear liftgate door, and optional factory tinted glass windows.

Some of the vehicle’s greatest family-based advantages concern the 40.1 inches of headroom, 40.3 inches of legroom, and 58.3 inches of shoulder room in the front. Rear passengers enjoy 40.6 inches of headroom, 39.5 inches of legroom, and 58.9 inches of shoulder room. All trims come fitted with heating seats, with the driver and front-passenger seats having eight-way power settings with back support.

Height-adjustable headrests come standard as a protective measure against whiplash. The leather interior covers front bucket seats and split-folding and reclining seats in the rear with a folding armrest in the center.

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class includes a number of power fittings such as power door locks, power windows, and a tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruise controls. It offers ample storage space with cup holders in the front and rear, door pockets, front seat-back pockets and a front console with storage. Other features include dual illuminated mirrors and a first aid kit.

For additional occupant comfort, the 2007 GL-Class includes air-conditioning and climate controls, and the entire interior features quality wood and alloy trimmings. Mercedes uses high-quality leather on the seats, doors, and gear shift. The driver benefits from many signals including a clock on the dashboard and signals for low tire pressure, a low battery, high engine temperature, and low fuel gauges.

For entertainment fittings, the GL-Class provides eight interior speakers to support a sound system constituting an AM/FM stereo with a single CD player in the glove box, and an MP3 player. Wireless telephony and a TeleAid communications service further enhance the vehicle.

Performance Handling

Benz cannot be faulted when it comes to safety, stability, and performance in its vehicles and the 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class does not differ. The GL320 CDI, a rear-drive SUV, uses a seven-speed automatic with overdrive that pairs with a three-liter V-6, producing 215 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque.

Pre-impact safety fittings include four-wheel ABS, emergency brake assist, ventilated disc brakes in the front and the rear, stability and traction controls, and electronic brake force distribution. For post-impact safety, the 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class comes fitted with front, rear, and third-row airbags for the head and side airbags in the front and rear, adjustable headrests on the front and rear seats to protect passengers and the driver from whiplash, and front airbags with occupant-sensing deactivation to protect small occupants from airbag launch injuries.

For stability and handling it comes fitted with a multi-link front suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, a four-wheel independent suspension, and a double wishbone front suspension. As safety fittings for day-to-day running, the GL-Class includes child seat anchors, and the rear doors come fitted with the child safety locks. A remote anti-theft alarm system and an engine immobilizer provide additional safety.

For better and safer driving the GL-Class includes daytime running lights, fog lights, auto delay-off headlamps, and dusk-sensing headlamps.
