Noise in the driveshaft

Written by: crazymariner on May 3, 2012 6:01:07 PM

I have a 2005 AWD Mercury Mariner. At slow speeds, pretty much only start from a stop. I get a screeching sound from under the vehicle.

I lifted car off ground and put car into drive with the parking brake on for resistance. The noise sounds like its the center support bearing at the drive shaft. Picture of center support: http://www.ccidriveline.com/ford/escape-center-support-bearing.html Ford doesn’t sell product.

They only sell the whole drive. Read More

I also just recently noticed that my back hatch glass on my 05 mariner isn’t working. I never really tried as well to open while it was locked. I meant to grab something so told hubby to unlock the car so I could grab it but I grabbed the lever to open the door BEFORE he hit the remote to unlock realized that the door wasn’t locked.

In thinking back. Read More

Having the same problem here on my 05 Mariner V6 FWD with 86K mi. Car stalls sometimes when coming to a stop. Brought it into my local dealership (Fette Ford) and they changed everything from spark plugs to fuel injection tubes. Cost me $1400. Now, one week later, still stalling.

I am taking it back in tomorrow. When the stalling first began, I found that Ford had released a technical service. Read More

I have a 2005 Mercury Mariner FWD 4 Cyl. and about 78000 miles on it. When I come to a stop from driving the RPM drops and the engine gets real sluggish and dies. It has been doing this for about 1000 miles so far and tool it into a Ford Dealership, wrong thing to do. Charged me $73 to tell me the Idle Air Control Valve was bad, so I. Read More

Mariner Cupped Tires?

Written by: fatshenry on Jul 18, 2007 11:19:08 AM

I bought 2005 Mercury Mariner Premier (28,000 mi) to months ago. The tire noise is really bugging me, has anyone experienced the same. It could be that the tires are cupped, does Ford warranty cover cupped tires. Thanks, Bill

I have a 2005 Mercury Mariner and it did not come with nerf bars. I am a very short female and since vehicle is so high I wanted them. I bought them and had them installed by Ocala Lincoln Mercery (who I bought vehicle from).

I payed $530.00 for them. I cannot use them, it’s makes it harder for me to get in and out. I am fixing to have them. Read More

Mariner Luxury radio issue

Written by: lukeinwi on Oct 5, 2005 9:16:57 PM

I recently purchased a 2005 Mariner Luxury with the Luxury Enhancement package, which gave me a radio with a 6-disc changer. The version of the radio I received was the MP3-capable, satellite-ready version (the one listed as late availability in the owner’s manual). After I got the Mariner home, I took out the owner’s manual and went over it, feature by feature, to get familiar with the vehicle.

Unfortunately, I discovered. Read More

You probably won’t do much better than the emplyee pricing along with the rebate. It might be possible they are offering a$1000.00 finance incentive if you go thru FOMCO. but I am not certain. That extra $1000.00 clearance cash ( I don’t know what that $1000.00 clearance cash is all about (it might be some mfg. to dealer cash that is being offered to Lincoln Mercury dealers). I happen to own a. Read More

Best deal on 2005 Mariner?

I am looking at a Mercury Mariner 2005 here in Louisiana to replace the wife’s flooded Jeep by this weekend. So far I see the ’05’s have the best rebates. Is the employee price that they advertise after these rebates are applied?

I am looking at an 05 with the following options: REAR CARGO CONVENIENCE PKG INTERIOR CARGO MANAGEMENT SYS RETRACTABLE CARGO COVER POWER MOONROOF WITH SHADE ROOF RACK WITH CROSSBARS. Read More

Mercury Mariner

This past weekend we purchased a Mariner, Premier- Satellite Gray (a really nice and different color). Thank you to all who have posted on this forum. It was very helpful to read all that you had to say, prior to visiting the dealership and doing a test drive. Our experience at this particular dealership was fantastic – maybe the best experience ever.

It is early, but what a great car so. Read More

Re: Road Test [navigator89]

I don’t think Edmunds did a Road test on the Mariner. I’m a little raw about that myself. It’s a new SUV, dressed up escape or not I think it deserves a road test.

Well anyway here’s the Edmunds full review of it. For what it’s worth they gave it a very positive review on it. 2005 Mercury Mariner Review

Road Test

Anyone know where I can find a road test of the Mercury Mariner? It’s a 2005 model, and yet I can’t find any road tests on it. It’s like it doesn’t exist.

Or maybe no one bothers to test it because its nothing but a gussied Escape.

Does anyone know of a website that sells the window deflectors for the 2005 Mariner. I have tried several and telephoned them. but no one seems to carry them except the Mercury dealers (about $77.00). I tried to find out if the deflectors for the Ford Escape and the Mazda Tribute will fit the Mariner. but. no one seems to know.

Any input would be appreciated. Also the same question for a hood bug. Read More

Liftgate Recall

Written by: sfmariner on Dec 28, 2004 11:20:25 PM

I just got a Premier Package Mariner last week and I’m very happy. I agree with Houset on the things that Mercury missed to add further differentiation to the product line. Nonetheless, I’m still loving it a week later. Now, as to making the Mariner even sportier than the tribute, I don’t think that’s the aim of the Mariner as it serves a more refined and elegant style.

Leave the sportiness. Read More

In the 2005 Mercury Mariner spec and info booklet, which is available at all dealers, on the page that describes ‘interior elements’ we are told It’s also SIRIUS Radio capable. WHAT A JOKE. I expected to pay SIRIUS $175. for a year of their excellent programing.

ANT, you state: The Marauder project is to test a few things out (which we will see in the future). It’s a niche product and sales are as they expected, and they are making money off of it. However, on page 34 of the May 2003 issue of Car and Driver: Mercury estimated it would sell 12,000 to 18,000 Marauders in 2002.

Instead, this muscle car turned out to be anemic-. Read More
