2000 Volvo S70 transmission

I have just taken of a 2000 s70 2.4L non turbo the AW 50/55sn transmission. The car had been in a garage for about a year a very minor drive the block every couple of just for the heck of it while it was in My wife started driving the car on a basis about 5 weeks last week the transmission to slip out of gear one day when she was to work.

I took the car to a local Volvo garage that said thought the transmission may be bad but they sure and suggested I take it to the dealership to get a second opinion. honest or didn’t know they were doing who On the way home I stopped by Autozone and pulled a code of 0733 gear ratio)and said it may be a solenoid issue, but I don’t that was correct.

I took the s70 to the dealership a couple of later they said also received the same of the incorrect gear ratio the service tech called the of …. The service advisor with that type of and the fact the transmission fluid OK that the transmission was doomed and need to be replaced to the tune of (thank goodness they had an of those type transmissions that was a discounted price to him).

So with all of that I have a questions:

Is the incorrect gear really a bad thing?

The fluid was about 3000 miles to the car sitting for a year, the service that performed the transmission change is no longer in business so I can not what type of fluid was I know its very possible the fluid could have used and with or without the car up for the year I could just now be with the effects of an incorrect replacement. Could a couple of and fills maybe solve my

If so can the Mobil 1 synthetic be used? It on the back of the container it is JWS 3309 but I’m unsure on that one its a synthetic.

The dealer verified the most up to software was in the vehicle, are there any external electrical parts could cause this of problem, such as the shift or the PNP switch or am I just truly and heading for a rebuild?
