Ok here is some good news. I have been driving for about 4 weeks now without any problems with the 94 shifting. knock on wood. I don’t know what happened but back a few weeks ago on a Monday morning I had to go help a friend do some things.

It wouldn’t shift that morning as it was stuck in limp mode BUT later that day when I was going home. Read More

I had the exact same issue on my 94 as well. Found the harness was rubbing on the pass side tie rod end. Would kill motor when turning tight right or it would go into limp. Cut harness added wire and shrink tube, wrapped in tape and tube with a couple of wire ties here and there – no issues ever again!

I even called my old mech today and he is a specialist in chrysler and he had no idea what it might be. he did say come in and do a reading and it will cost about 100 bucks which i wont be spending.

I had this problem with my first 94. The wiring harness for the wires running to the top of the tranny was part of a recall to keep them off of the top tie rod on the passenger side. The repair had been done on my car but, Chrysler’s are knownfor not having the best covering on their wires and on a couple of my wires the covering had cracked and. Read More

I want to start by saying I am amazed by all the posts on here and how many very good answers I have seen. I want to see if anyone can help me with a couple questions about my 1994 lhs. low miles 71,000 interior and exterior in excellent shape motor and all electrical working drives like a dream EXCEPT when it goes into limp mode which. My 1994 LHS is having a new problem. My abs and air bag lights are steady on and my power windows are not working as well as my air/heat panel. no power to that display as well. I have done some other research and got an answer that it might be the ignition switch. the Person that told me this is an retired chrysler mech. he said that the blower motor. Read More

Spark plug wires or plugs are a possibility. However I was trying to tie this into the overheating. I should reassure the owner, that these are very good vehicles and well worth the trouble and expense to set up properly. There is no perfect vehicle.

I would try changing the throttle position switch and the Idle air control valve. I think one was 30 dollars and the other was 20. they are both easy to switch out. I had a similar problem with my LHS and that fixed it.

I purchased a 1994 Chrysler LHS that had not been driven for a few months. The seller said they had let it run for a while on the regular basis. The problem. when I drive for

10 miles in traffic, the car stalls at a stop. There is no sputtering or unusual signs. It simply turns off. This only happens when it has been at a stop for at least 10-15 seconds. Read More

In my case it turned out to be simply the ignition block in the column. where the key inserts!

I have done a net search, and this problem has not been solved by replacing the above three modules. However there are a bunch of grounds under the battery case that can go bad and cause this and a a cluster of grounds you have to remove the central dash to get to, that can corrode. It seems this problem is most likely to be a grounding issue.

Written by: tuscanskipper on Oct 24, 2009 11:22:45 PM

I have had a good look at the wiring diagrams. The gauges are driven from the Body Control module. The power control module sends signals to the Body control module and the transmission control module.

My best guess is that the power control or transmission control modules are at fault, but I suppose it could be the body control module as all these seem to be intimately related. This is probably. Read More

Re: 1994 Chrysler LHS rough idle [tsurnick]

I got the Idle air control valve today and installed it. I am also going to try the trick with the carb cleaner, spraying it near the intake manifold. The idle air control valve seemed to bring the idle back up where it needed to be.

I will give it a good drive tomorrow to see if the hesitation is still there. It would kind of choke sometimes when the engine. Read More

I also have a 94 LHS and I have had the rough idle problem my Self. I have been talking to a few different mechanics and I am semi confident the problem may be the Idle air Control Valve. The valve runs about 70 dollars in most auto parts stores.

I should have one next week. I think that may fix the problem.

I have a 94 LHS with a rough idle. There is now 130,000 miles on it. It started suddenly 2 years ago. There are no engine codes even after repeated checks. I changed plugs and wires, even though they were not that old.

It did not help. I have checked for vacuum leaks many times and can not find one. I have carefully synchronized the throttle bodies. The miss is at. Read More

fastdriver — 7/70 warranty

Written by: mileshoover on Feb 4, 2004 7:14:26 PM

Gotta disagree with your last that there was no 7/70 warranty on the ’99 LHS. Took delivery of mine in April 1998 and was offered my choice of 3/36 or 7/70. Since the 7/70, at that time, included only 1/12 along with it on items other than the drive train, I opted to get the 3/36 warranty.

Probably most other buyers did the same due to that skimpy additional coverage. We. Read More

‘valhs’ and ‘fastdriver’ sure sound cynical. I have driven Audis all my life, with the exception of my latest car, which was a 1994 Saab 9000 Aero (what a car THAT was!!). I’m 39, I have a 7 month-old, and my wife and I wanted to find a car that had some panache, comfort, performance, and interior room.

By the way, I’m 6’7. In the LHS, I can put my seat. Read More

Take the VIN down to a dealer’s service department that is willing to run the number and see the service history. This will tell you what ANY dealer has done to it over the car’s history. Make sure that all the recalls have been performed.

The latest is the one dealing with the lower control arms. My brother had this done to his ’94 LH and it stiffened up the front. Read More

1994 Chrysler New Yorker

Hey Guys, I’m considering buying a used ’94 New Yorker and I want to know a few things. Was ’94 the first year for the LHS designation? How do these cars handle at over 100K? I talked to the owner aboout the common problems (noise over bumps, engine shutting down, etc. ). He assures me that he’s already fixed it himself.

Are there any other common major problems with this car? I. Read More

Question for carnutpa

My prior inquiry was #369. I’d like to hear about problems with your 1994 LHS. At this point, we’re not planning on buying another Chrysler because of steering/front end problems that have been ongoing since day one. Also, we’re not happy with having to wear earplugs as we travel down the highway. The road noise is much more than we bargained for.

We are looking at a Marquis as a possible. Read More
