1967 Porsche 911

I#8217;ve come across quite a few early 911s recently in a wide variety of current build and condition. From fully prepped track cars to rusted out shells in need of serious restoration work to well kept drivers it seems just about every variety has popped up for sale. The model featured here falls into the third category and takes us back to nearly the beginning: a Tangerine 1967 Porsche 911 located in California.

With 130 hp coming from the 2.0 liter flat-six engine these are not powerful cars by any modern standard, but for their day, given their reasonable curb weight, they still provide enough acceleration to move along at a brisk pace without much trouble.

Please go through video, and photo a few times over to satisfy any curiosity, however if there is an area that I#8217;ve missed, please feel free to contact me.

I have owned this 911 for about 5 years. I purchased it from a man whose dad had left this car to him when he passed away. I believe the Dad was the original owner, so technically I am only the 2nd owner of this car.

This car runs like a new car, and it will cruise at 80mph for hours. If you are looking at this Ad then I don#8217;t have to give you a lesson on Porsche or the 911. I am sure you know that the 911 when it came to the US, it was more expensive than the Corvette and the Jaguar E-type.

This is an original California BLACK PLATE Car, and it has never left California. This is a RUST FREE car. (check out the pics of the undercarriage and the front trunk area).

The car was in running condition when I bought it, even the paint on the car was in very good condition which could have been polished out. If it wasn#8217;t for a poor quality of the front end repaint, I would have left the Paint original. (There is no sign of any repairs to the body in the front or anywhere on the car). One thing let to another, and about 3 years ago, I decided to restore the car.

We decided to go ahead a rebuild everything. The Engine was completely rebuilt with new bearings, gaskets, timing chains, Head studs, Cam sprockets etc. The Oil pump, Cam shafts, Heads, and Cylinders were rebuilt.

The Transmission was rebuilt with new 1st gear assembly, 1st and 2nd gear sliders, 3rd and 4th gear sliders, all 5 new Synchros, 1st gear dog teeth, 4th and 5th gear dog teeth, and 1st gear snap ring. The Flywheel was resurfaced, and the clutch was replaced with OEM SACHS clutch kit.

The Ignition system has been converted to Electronic ignition. No more points! The Alternator and the Starter were rebuilt.

The Fuel system was cleaned out, with new Fuel sending unit, Fuel pump, and rebuilt Weber Carburetors.

The brake calipers were rebuilt, and the pads and rotors and master cylinder is replaced. The shifter assembly and linkage were replaced.

The Exhaust Heater boxes were replaced with DANSK heater boxes. So there is heat inside the car. This car is ready for those long trips down the coast or cross country.

The Exterior was de-trimmed and repainted with Original style PPG Single Stage Tangerine Orange Paint. All the Chrome was re-chromed. and the weather seals were replaced.

The interior was re upholstered in original style and quality Leather + Vinyl. The carpets were replaced, and the headliner was replaced.

Everything on this car works, all the lights work, all the gauges work, The Wipers work, the horns work, the original radio works, the heater works.

This is a great example of an excellent condition driver quality 911. You can enter car shows, and it can win trophy#8217;s, but it is NOT A Concours quality car. It would not be too much work to make it a concours quality car, but I have always believed that #8220;Cars are meant to be driven#8221; especially an early 911 like this one.

I have all the receipts of the work done to it in the last 3 years. I also have a written warranty from Motor Meisters for the engine rebuild for 1 year. I also have the #8220;Porsche certificate of authenticity#8221;

I have a few vintage cars, and I am so impressed with this 911, because it drives like a modern car but it is almost 50 years old.

This is a great opportunity to own a piece of Automotive History. The values on these cars are only going to go up.

The seller here has represented the state of this car quite well. It isn#8217;t entirely original as it appears both the engine and transmission have been sourced from other models and while it looks in excellent shape it is not a concours car. This is, as he states, a period-correct driver and there will always be a place for that sort of car.

Already having had the engine rebuilt and a decent bit of restoration work, there#8217;s a good chance many of the headaches of a 46-year-old car will be mostly alleviated. The difficult assessment for a car such as this will always be the price.

Any buyer is paying for a bit of history and some nostalgia, but the market for an early 911 has shot up to such a degree that even a non-original driver like this will cost significantly more than later examples that offer much more capable performance. At the moment, the asking price is at the high end of what it should sell for were everything original. So for this particular car it#8217;s definitely a bit too high.

Nonetheless, there aren#8217;t a ton of period-correct driver-ready examples around so perhaps with some negotiation this car could be had for the right price. All that would then be left, would be to go for a drive.
